ChatGPT agents now work overnight for $100 a month

Sovereignty angle
The Friday task that took three hours can now run Saturday morning, unattended. The catch: it runs on a computer you can watch but never own, with rules you set once and then trust.

OpenAI launched always-on agents called dots that keep working after you close the app, starting at $100 monthly.

What changed

OpenAI launched dots on September 29, always-on AI agents that keep working between conversations. Each dot runs on GPT-6 Astra with its own cloud computer and browser. Pro users pay $100 monthly for one dot, Business Premium gets it included. The dot connects to over 4,000 apps and replies in ChatGPT, Slack or Teams. You can ask it to prepare an invoice, draft a proposal or update a report, then close the app. It keeps going and brings results back when ready.

What you can do with it this week

Pick one Friday task that takes two to three hours: pulling the week's numbers into a report, updating client quotes with new pricing, or drafting follow-up emails. Give your dot the task Thursday night with samples of past work attached. Set it to ask before sending anything. Check results Friday morning. The task runs overnight; you review and send. Start with read-only work first: summarizing call notes, comparing proposals, listing overdue invoices. Once those work, try tasks that prepare documents for your approval.

What to keep in your own hands

Dots live on OpenAI's computers, not yours. You can watch what it does but you cannot pull it onto your own server. Password changes always stay with you; OpenAI blocks those by design. Before you schedule a task, check three things: does it need data you should not upload? Does it make a decision only you should make? Can you re-create the work if the dot stops next month? Write your approval rules once, then test them with a task that should trigger a stop. If it asks when it should, schedule it. If it runs without asking, rewrite the rule and test again.
