Anthropic launched two new tools on October 8, 2026: Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion, both in beta.
What changed
Claude Dashboards connects to data platforms like Salesforce, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks. You ask a question in plain language — "Why did sales drop last month?" — and Claude builds a dashboard with live charts that update as your underlying data changes. Each chart shows when it was last refreshed, and you can click any number to see the query Claude used to produce it.
Claude Motion turns a report, chart, or walkthrough into a short animated video. It writes the animation as code, not generated video, so every word, number, and transition stays editable. You can export it as an MP4 or send it to Adobe Firefly for full editing. Anthropic says people have made more than 45 million docs, slides, and designs in Claude since those tools launched; Dashboards and Motion extend that from static artifacts to live data and animation.
What you can do with it this week
Dashboards is available on all paid Claude plans starting at $17 per month. Motion is on Team and Enterprise plans only. If you're already paying for Claude, open a clean chat and connect your CRM or data platform. Then ask Claude to build a dashboard that answers a real question you ask every Monday — sales by region, inventory turns, customer-support tickets by type.
Have Claude build it, then check two things: does every chart show its refresh time, and can you open the query behind each number? If both are yes, you've turned a recurring manual task into a live view. If you need an explainer video for a client or internal training, try Motion with a report you've already written. Claude will animate it, and you can edit the result before exporting.
What to keep in your own hands
Claude writes the query that pulls your data, so you must check that query before you rely on the chart. A dashboard that looks good but calculates the wrong thing is worse than no dashboard at all. Open the query for every chart, confirm it's pulling the right fields and applying the right filters, and make sure you understand what it's counting.
Don't connect Claude to data you can't afford to have logged in a third-party system. And before you show a dashboard in a meeting, confirm that the underlying data refreshed recently — a live-looking chart built on stale data will cost you more than the time you saved building it.
